Phoenix Davis has solidified himself as one of the hottest R&B, Hip Hop, and Funk songwriters/producers in the state of Maddocha.

He has a gift for writing songs that you will want to sing and dance to.

Phoenix was born in the small town of Hampton, Maddocha on 6/1/1970 to the parentage of Gentry & Asia Davis.

Phoenix always had music in his blood.  His father owned a local juke joint in the city of Hampton.  The juke joint was in an abandoned building that the city had long closed down.  Phoenix's father used the building by paying off the local sheriff.

At the juke joint, Phoenix learned to play the drums, piano, keyboard, and guitar, by watching the band members.  At times, they would let Phoenix sit in with them.

The juke joint was closed in 1986 when a drunk man decided to shoot up the place when he discovered his wife in the place with one of the band members.  The band member was shot.  He fell dead right by Phoenix.

Phoenix's mother did not want him to have anything else to do with music.  Phoenix and his father disagreed, but Phoenix's mother was persistent.  Phoenix snuck and took lessons with one of the living members of the band that had played for his father's juke joint.  Phoenix got away with sneaking around for a while.  When Phoenix's mother found out about the lessons, she grounded him so severely that all he could do was go to school and church, even then, his mother dropped him off and picked him up.  The rest of the time, Phoenix was confined to the house.

Phoenix's house arrest lasted for seven months.  That did not deter Phoenix because he wrote lyrics, tape-recorded melodies he sung, and held on to his dream.

He made the journey to the city of Dorinda in 1989 just after graduating from Hampton High School.  He worked in several record stores, recording studios, and music equipment stores before he met Scott Williams of the Shades.

After talking with Phoenix, Scott invited him to sit in on a practice session of the Shades band.

During the session, Phoenix asked if he could make a suggestion.  He was allowed to make the suggestion.  After a few months, Phoenix became a member of the Cousin-N-Nem Production Team.
